What Are Dental Crowns?
These are like helmets (or crowns) that are fitted over the top of your tooth to strengthen it. It can be made of porcelain, ceramic, glass, or gold alloy.
It can cover up to the entire tooth, but thankfully it looks and feels like a regular tooth.
How it’s done
Crowns require your dentist to shape the tooth and have it fitted with dental cement too. But first, your outer layer will be removed, ensuring a strong center remains.
If your tooth is decaying, your dentist will remove the decayed areas and assess if it needs to be built up.
Once that’s done, your dentist will take an impression so that the crown fits perfectly.
